Half Day Intramuros Tour
Half day Tour
Visiting Philippines’ capital, Manila, is an essential step in understanding the country’s history while discovering the contemporary society. The historic city has been very lively ever since the age of the Manila-Acapulco Galleon trade brought about by its strategic location.
Start early for a historical tour around Intramuros, literally translated as “within the walls”. It is the former center of ecclesiastical and commercial power. Shielded from the rest of the city by perfectly preserved high walls, Intramuros is a quiet area and is home to colonial heritage of great interest. Visit Fort Santiago, San Agustin Church & Museum, and Casa Manila among other notable places. Built in 1607 and the oldest church in the Philippines, San Agustin Church is one of the four Baroque churches in the Philippines declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993. It is representative of a unique style of its kind. The European Baroque was reinterpreted by Chinese and Philippine craftsmen through this magnificent structure. Drop by Rizal Park where the Philippines’ national hero, Jose Rizal, was executed.
